This session is designed for HR professionals seeking to strengthen their veteran and military spouse hiring efforts. Attendees will learn how to translate military experience using MOC crosswalks, implement mentorship and onboarding programs, and align hiring strategies with SHRMs’ core competencies. The presentation will incorporate current data from the Department of Labor and LinkedIn to support data-driven decision-making and promote workforce inclusion.

About the Speaker

JEREMY YOST, National Employment Director at DAV (Disabled American Veterans) 

Jeremy Yost, a service-connected, disabled combat veteran of the Afghanistan War, was appointed National Employment Director in August 2025 and assigned to DAV National Headquarters in Erlanger, Kentucky. Yost supports DAV’s efforts to connect veterans with meaningful careers by assisting with job fairs and supporting efforts that connect veterans with employers, resources and benefits. An Ohio native, Yost enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2006 and served until 2011, attaining the rank of corporal. He served with Marine Corps Security Force Guard from 2007 to 2009 and with 1st Battalion, 6th Marines from 2009 to 2011, deploying to Marjah, Afghanistan, from 2009 to 2010. Yost began his DAV career as a national service officer apprentice in Cleveland, in 2013. He was promoted to assistant supervisor at the DAV national service office in Denver, in 2014, and became the assistant supervisor of the DAV national service office in Pittsburgh, in 2016. He was named the supervisor of the DAV Washington, D.C., National Service Office in October of 2019, a role in which he led a team of national service officers handling claims and appeals for VA benefits on behalf of veterans and their families. In 2022, he was appointed assistant national employment director at DAV National Headquarters. Yost holds an associate degree from Ohio Technical College and he is a life member of DAV Chapter 19 in Kentucky. He and his wife Tiffany have a daughter, Kyri.
